Video Games and the Female Audience
Daniel Floyd and Leigh Alexander put together the above video which briefly discusses girls and gaming. While the video gives an awkward and undeserving thumbs up to the bullshit girl games that Ubisoft is pumping out, it’s actually a pretty good assessment of the game industry and girls who are apart of it or don’t want to be.

Fantastic Zombie Apocalypse Survival Kit...
Excellent animation by Rob Moffet. The Resident Evil and 28 Days Later references are awesome.
Be sure and pause the vid to read the disclaimer at the end.

Matt Kish's Super Mario Sunshine Haiku Blowout!
As a result of Kyle’s post, I’ve been obsessively playing (and just obsessing over) Super Mario Sunshine.
Icky paint-like goop!
F.L.U.D.D. sounds so noncommittal.
Still, I love this game.

Good Game Get! How to Raise a Dragon
Gregory Weir’s newest game utilizes lo-bit Dragons with a fictional book by an obtusely named magus called X.R. Quilliam. It’s a fascinating presentation of fictional Dragon history, sciences, and your experience as a Dragon & perhaps something more.
Its an exploration/choice making game at it’s best and it makes me so happy to see Greg advancing so much as a designer.

i can smell video games
Being an only child and living near no children and across from a silo surprisingly has its benefits. As a kid, I was able to play a lot of great video games (by myself), and I was lucky enough to actually choose good video games. I don’t actually know how I did it, but at like ten years old I knew I wanted Final Fantasy VII, and I sucked at the game, really badly and didn’t end up...

Four Things You May Not Know About The Last...
1. While Trico was the working title, it’s also the name of the of the Erne or sea eagle creature that you see in the trailer.
2. Visually, The Last Guardian is going to be stunning. In fact Ueda claims that the physics engine can render each of Trico’s feathers individually based on in game wind.
3. Trico can mean a few things, including prisoner, baby bird, and combination of...

Defending Super Mario Sunshine
When Super Mario Sunshine was displayed at E3, a lot of journalists and forum users we absolutely outraged at the graphics of Super Mario Sunshine, which I find to be absurd and one of the easiest of examples of just how terrible mainstream gaming journalism is.
To think, that the first thing they focused on was graphics isn’t too preposterous, but it’s definitely sad. As it turned...

Mortal Kombat's Stop Motion Rig
Giant Bomb is reporting that Mortal Kombat designer, Ed Boon tweeted this awesome picture the other day.
It’s a photo of the stop motion rig they used to capture Goro! How absolutely cool! I always felt the models were life size, and not dinky action figures. Who knew?

All of these Japanese men with mustaches pretending to be other nationalities while racing Luigi in Mario Kart DS is so bizarre, but oh so hilarious.

Lou Ramano's Up Color Script
My girlfriend, her little sister, and I adored Pixar’s Up when we saw it on opening weekend. It was such an amazing and hilarious movie, plus Pixar films are just absolute eye-candy.
Our one gripe with it was Pixar’s decision to make the evil dogs in the movies, such stereotypical evil dogs. A big old mean Doberman Pinscher and his equally mean pit bull lackeys were the breeds chosen...

President Obama recently gave a speech to the American Medical Association.
It was your basic healthcare, healthy Americans, insurance, making the world a better place fodder, but one particular thing Barry said definitely caught my attention.
“The second step that we can all agree on is to invest more in preventive care so that we can avoid illness and disease in the first place. That...

screen get! yoshi's island
The simple image of a gradient sky and pixel clouds can sure conjure up some wonderful memories about my favorite platformer. I know pixel art has found it’s place today, but what makes this image so endearing is that when they were developing Yoshi’s Island on the Super Nintendo, this was the very best way they could convey the game visually.
They didn’t use sixteen bit...

My wonderful girlfriend sent me this video of a Breakfast at Sulimays episode where three awesome old farts listen to and review popular and independent music.
This particular video is hilarious because Joe links Animal Collective with Girl Scout cookies and supporting your local Girl Scouts.
Awesome. Also Ann loves The Young Jeezys.
pixelated aquaphobia: or why super mario 64's...
When Super Mario 64 came out in 1996, I was eight years old, and I absolutely adored the game.
However, I was afraid of the water levels. Like dreadfully, would not play the state unless absolutely necessary. They were a million times worse than the ghost mansion levels.
It was my first experience with exploring a 3D water space and it was absolutely frightening to me to think that...

good game get! trash panic
Hand down, Trash Panic is the absolute best five dollar puzzle game I’ve ever purchased.
My girlfriend and I bought the game on our PS3 last night and it’s absolutely spectacular! The object of the game is to compress trash in your trash can and to beat the level after given a certain amount of trash. You do this by twisting, harpooning, and arranging trash in the can. You can...

How much is a game worth to you?
After reading Matt’s newest post about his second favorite video game of all time, I wondered how much the original Japanese version of Ico with it’s awesome boxart would cost.
Turns out, a lot. Even if you want to buy the US version of the game, it’s probably going to run you about $25. I got my copy of Ico at Walmart a few years back in the clearance bin for $6.99. Of...

Here are some brief thoughts on E3:
I didn’t find much of anything that Microsoft was doing interesting so I won’t be commenting on their press conference.

The Most Expensive Earthbound Item on eBay?
$1,999.99
That’s how much the most expensive Earthbound item on eBay that I’ve seen so far costs.
The huge Mr.Saturn doll is awesome (note the apple to help you get an idea of it’s size), but that price is absolutely insane and I could do so much more stuff in my life with two thousand dollars than stare at a stuffed Mr.Saturn.
It does come in a really sweet box...
