Lego Final Fantasy
While looking for examples of asymmetrical character design in videogames, I came across what might be the most awesome Final Fantasy boss ever…Lego Safer Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. If the whole game looked like this, I would NEVER stop playing. - Matt

Good Game Get! When Pigs Fly
When Pigs Fly is Auntie Pixelante’s (Anna Anthropy’s) first commercial game, and it’s pixelated goodness is currently exclusive to New Grounds. The game’s short opening scene establishes that you are a pink pig, and that this frolicking pig has fallen into a hole and can’t get out. You may try jumping, but shortly after much desperation, the little pink pig...

comic-con LBP goodness
So Marvel and Media Molecule have teamed up and are possibly* going to be releasing these über-cute and awesome LittleBigPlanet costumes for Sackboys & girls. The Iron Man costume looks so awesome, and I have to admit that a Tony Stark costume would be just as cool. - Kyle * Most likely. I mean, why would they deny themselves the immense amounts of money from these costumes, and why...

gameplay vs. narrative
There’s been a lot of debate recently on quite a few blogs about the perceived contradiction between story and game play in videogames. In other words, to borrow a summation from the Spectre Collie blog, “If you’re putting narrative in front of the game play, you’re no longer making a game. You’re making a movie.” That same entry goes on to look at things in a much more balanced way, such as...

fake mother zero watch kind of cool
The following watch would be megaton awesome if real, sadly it’s not, well it’s sort of real because a seller on eBay is selling it, but it’s not really real, you know? The design of the watch isn’t too bad, but the following image is clearly Photoshopped. I wonder what it looks like in real life? The $12 in my pocket says I should deposit them into PayPal and find out. ...

Zelda medley - A Capella Voices and Violin magic
My girlfriend sent me the awesome video above, and as much as I enjoy it, I have to say it pisses me off because I think about how terrible the Twilight Princess music is, because Nintendo didn’t record but instead used midi. The above video is so incredibly funny and cool, and it’s totally fun. Most of these songs sound so awesome with the violin and the above wacky guy makes...

f-zero woes
F-Zero GX for the Gamecube is awesome, and I seriously implore you to seek it out and buy it used for like $7. Totally an excellent bargain. My girlfriend and I picked it up for around the price last year and it was a blast for months and we still play it every now and then. It’s just this perfect speedy racing game and while I like Wipeout for the Playstation consoles, I have to say that...

mario's wardrobe secrets revealed
The wonder plumber has only one normal outfit right? Wrong. Matt Kish just pointed out to me that Mario actually has short sleeves in Super Mario Sunshine. Which you know, it seems like that would be very appropriate and obvious, but I just never noticed before. - Kyle

Wii Tennis Simulation
Wii Tennis is already sort of a tennis simulation but these German dudes* have taken it even further by building a sort of installation/simulation piece for their Wii and Wii Tennis. While I’m not particularly fond of Wii Sports (besides bowling), I think that it’s really awesome that something like this can be put together with the Wii’s extremely cheap consumer...

a painting of the majesty of colors monster
This painting by the First Million Sketches guy is absolutely awesome. My Girlfriend gave me the heads up to it as its directly inspired by Gregory Weir’s excellent game, I Fell In Love With The Majesty of Colors. If you’ve played the game you’ll totally get it. - Kyle

Luigi's Socks
The latest cover of Nintendo Power is awesome! I’m almost tempted to subscribe because of how minimal and tasteful their newest design aesthetic is. Anyhow, check out Luigi’s red and white striped socks in the above art for the newest Mario & Luigi RPG. Totally stylin’ Luigi. - Kyle

The Runaway 5 LP
In Earthbound, Ness saves the Runaway 5 from a life of music entertainment servitude in the town of Twoson by paying off their huge debt. If you need a refresher for the humour in the image below the video, here you go. This LP mock-up for the Runaway 5 that the EB Saga crew put together is just totally awesome. Moonside Blues. Metroid Famicom Disk System Art
The Famicom Disk System’s main feature was the ability to rewrite disks and save games, which wasn’t available at the time on the current cartridges. Eventually the ability to save came to cartridges which quickly made the ridiculous Famicom Disk System obsolete. My favorite part about the Disk System is it’s absolutely cute yellow disk dude logo. So superb! My second...

Why cutting edge graphics are meaningless, Or at...
Take a moment, while reading this, and think of your favorite video game. More than likely it isn’t from this console generation which means that comparatively speaking, the graphics don’t look nearly as good as today’s games. Of course, that’s subjective as my favorite game, Mother 3 has fantastic graphics with colorful sprites and excellent design. However, it’s not...

Wu-Tang Controller
The above Wucontroller came out for the PS1 at the same time as Wu-Tang’s terrible video game, Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style. It was bundled in a special edition of the game. The controller is extremely rare as an eBay search yielded no results. Anyone know where I can find this?

The Underside
The Underside is a game currently in development by a young man named Arthur Lee and it’s game that I’ve been playing for most of the early afternoon. While it’s still in the preview stage, it does feel as if it’s almost complete. It’s that good. The game has such a familiar feel to it, and while from screen shots you may assume it’s heavily influenced by Cave...

Me And My Shadow : Reservations About “Shadow Of...
I was initially very excited about “Shadow Of The Colossus” because I had played Team ICO’s previous effort “Ico” and found it to be one of the most emotionally affecting and incredibly beautiful videogames I had ever experienced. “Ico” appeared at a time when the medium of videogames had become a stable, reliable and immensely profitable industry. It was far safer for a company to continue...
