The Nintendo Brownie: Personal Snapshots with WarioWare D.I.Y.

Whoa shit. Didn’t know (until Duncan of Micorcartridge gave me a heads up) that Eric over at Tiny Cartridge did a great post about this very thing like four months ago!
Micorcartridge is a simple blog dedicated to WarioWare D.I.Y. MicroGames and has a brief description that calls the games - video game snapshots.
This is intriguing because the description links to an article by Ian Bogost, and in the write-up Bogost explains how the Kodak Brownie changed photography by making it simple, cheap, and more personal due to it’s accessibility.
The article was written before WarioWare D.I.Y. was even announced, but Micorcartridge is saying the Brownie for videogame snapshots has already been attempted!
Sadly WarioWare D.I.Y. has only developed cult status rather than the explosion that the real Kodak Brownie created.
Maybe Nintendo can try again with a 3DS release, or even a WarioWare D.I.Y. game developed for the Wii. Hell, maybe dropping the WarioWare name all together and possibly bringing a Mario name into the title, or even calling it Wii Create.
They can do it, they can inspire people with easy, and cheap tools to create and share amazing video game snapshots.
Nintendo just needs to do it right.

Holy coolness! HAL Lab’s Face Glider for DSiWare!
I don’t know what to like more, the virtual helmet on the player’s head, or the god damn great Nintendo music.

You Cut Me Off Mid-Funk
Not really video game related, but awesome, so kind of related in a distant cousin sort of way.

Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour Out Today! Scott Pilgrim VS. The World The Video Game Out On PSN On August 10th! Scott Pilgrim VS. The World The Movie Comes Out On August 13th!
Oh.
I guess I said everything I needed to say in the title.
(Oh yeah, Xbox Live gets the game a week after the PSN release because of some Summer of Arcade bullshit. Which does kind of look cool, but they should at least replace the crap city citizen known as Hydro Thunder with Scott Pilgrim.)

Wooden NES

Pretty rad, but sadly and understandably just a sculpture. It also is supposedly still available for purchase as the eBay auction bombed.
You can see some real butt-ugly portable wooden Nintendo systems, here and here.
