Good Game Get! Plants Vs. Zombies

To understand Plants Vs. Zombies, you must first understand their meanings individually.

Here are the New Oxford American Dictionary definitions.

Of course, we are talking about definition number two when it comes to Zombies.

The definition of Plant is less complicated, but don’t take them for granted because Plants Vs. Zombies from Pop Cap scientifically illustrates and proves that your garden could save your life in case your neighbors start reanimating and craving your family’s brains.

In fact before I begin to rave about this game, here is an absolutely perfect pop music video explaining the game’s premise.

See what I am saying? This game is already catchy to you if you haven’t even played it yet. I assure you when you do, you’ll understand while everyone else on the internet who is cooler and more in the know than you loves this game.

At it’s very core, Plants Vs. Zombies is a real time strategy/tower defense game and it accomplished this exceedingly well for such a minimal budget and simple graphics, which I’m thankful for because my graphic card-less MacBook wouldn’t be able to play it.

I don’t want to talk too much about game specifics, but I will say that the variety of plants and zombies is absolutely hilarious and that you unlock a new plant almost every level. You then have a deck ‘seed cards’ that you choose to go into battle with, and you have plants from sun flowers who harvest sun, to pea shooters which utilize said sun to grow and then ultimately kill zombies with peas. You eventually get a Jalapeno which can set an entire row of Zombies on fire.

Awesome, I know.

It gets even better than that, as the game has different locales around the house and the rules begin to change depending on the time of day. It’s fun, hectic, and contains extremely cute plant and zombie illustrations, that move and kill each other.

One word, polished. This game is so solidly built and dense that it rivals those big budget titles that need countless patching before they’re even close to the build quality of Plants Vs. Zombies. The game is chock-full of real, legitimately original and clever gameplay for just $20.

It’s a charming game, that at the least deserves an hour of your time in it’s free demo mode. After that, you’ll probably buy it, and I don’t blame you, it’s awesome, and Pop Cap deserves mad props.
