Video Games and the Female Audience - good game get!

Video Games and the Female Audience

Daniel Floyd and Leigh Alexander put together the above video which briefly discusses girls and gaming. While the video gives an awkward and undeserving thumbs up to the bullshit girl games that Ubisoft is pumping out, it’s actually a pretty good assessment of the game industry and girls who are apart of it or don’t want to be.

I play video games all the time with my girlfriend and she’s an incredible gamer (then again, she’s an incredible girlfriend so I guess that lends itself to the gamer part) and it’s not just casual games she plays. She plays absolutely everything except for first person shooters, which I don’t really play either.

She doesn’t suck at video games either, and in fact when we’re playing competitive games, she beats me more often than I beat her.

Personally I don’t really care about the guy to girl gamer ratio, and don’t actually care about expanding the market to girls. I do care about the ridiculous sex-infused video games that are bursting with testosterone, they’re incredibly annoying and since they sell so well, it makes me think that most gamers are not only male, they’re also idiots.

Of course, we could never actually test whether or not gamers were idiots, but if crap like Dead or Alive: Extreme Volley Ball sells well then yes, the people who purchased that game are idiots.
