Good Game Get! Aftermath

Aftermath is a serious(ly fun) and dark dual-stick zombie survival horror game for the iPhone that feels like a top-down single-player Left 4 Dead. The game’s premise is to reach way points while attempting to avoid and simultaneously destroy any zombie that crosses your path.

The game controls with one left virtual analog stick and one right horizontal-sliding analog stick. The two sticks are highly responsive and I had no problems with them while playing through the game.

You constantly have a flashlight on and by pointing your flash light (I.E. moving your character’s direction) you begin to automatically fire your selected weapon. To select a new weapon you tap your weapon and hold for a weapons menu. To reload you simply tap the weapon, and of course to throw grenades you tap wherever on the screen you’d like to lob a grenade. It’s all very fluid, and intelligently thought out considering the iPhone limitations in the button department.

The game is on the short side, but it’s solid throughout and at it’s current price of only 99¢; it’s a bargain.

I hope the dev continues to update the app or release expansion packs as the game’s engine is incredible and I can see so much potential in it. From the excellent lighting and rendering effects to the solid control scheme, advancements such as as Bluetooth/WiFi multiplayer for a really awesome Left 4 Dead-esque portable experience would be stellar.

The app store is littered with a lot of zombie crap, but Aftermath is not poo, and is one of the best games in the store.
