David Cage probably talks too much about heavy rain

Heavy Rain creator, David Cage has been pretty consistent lately in his hyping of Quantic Dream’s newest project, Heavy Rain. The PS3 exclusive (one of the only ones, these days) is set to come out in 2009. The details surrounding the game are pretty slim (other than the impressive character models and voice acting) but lately Cage has been unvieling some vague info and that is leaving the gaming press to begin some speculation.

The game supposedly doesn’t really have a game over, or at least one single game over. Cage says that you can keep playing after the main character dies and that even though check points exsist, he encourages players to just keep playing until they finish it.

This obviously leaves the game open to multiple endings dealing with the consequences of the choices the player makes and it’s a possibility that no one ending is exactly the right one, which is definitely compelling.

At this rate Heavy Rain could just be a really good looking, high quality, PS3 exclusive, choose your own adventure story, video game conglomeration thingy.

That’s not a bad thing though.

Okay so the tagline of “How far would you go to save someone you loved?” is kind of cheesy but video games are behind the times in terms of story telling so perhaps this is a step in the right direction.
