Cory Schmitz’s EXP Zine is Magic
These fantastic game cluttered floors remind me heavily of a high school friend’s room and I can’t stop looking them. The VMU on the Killer 7 box is stellar.
Schmitz has crafted the perfect covers for the debut of his zine, as it really does bring on a surge of awesome memories and emotions. I mean look at that GameBoy printer, and that GBC copy of Metal Gear Solid beneath the WaveBird controller!

While I prefer a minimalist aesthetic; I can whole-heartedly appreciate the unorganized yet perfect chaos represented in the covers. It most certainly goes against the grain in the contemporary gaming culture of huge TVs, lifestyle promotional shots of normal people playing games, charging stations, and unaturally perfectly organized wireless controllers.
The zine kind of conveys itself as punk rock in a game magazine scene that really just wants you to buy new shit instead of appreciating the gear, games and nostalgia you already have.
I like it.
