I’m pretty stoked about Cave Story coming to the Wii and I’ve been enjoying the comparison shots that Nicalis has been posting for the sprites.

However after seeing some new comparison screens on GoNintendo, I’ve decided that perhaps a Cave Story remake isn’t the best idea. I’m excited that it’s coming to the Wii and I’m more than happy that Pixel’s work is getting a chance to make some money (hopefully more for him than anyone else involved in this process) and that Cave Story is being presented to a larger audience.

The comparison screens compare the original game with the “remastered” version.

I feel that a great deal of charm has been lost in the transition, and even though you can turn the original graphics back on, I have to ask, what was the point of even updating them in the first place?
