12.29.08 - 01.03.09

This week was a pretty awesome week for me in general. It was laid back and it was another holiday week because of New Year’s. I also got a chance to play quite a few games.

Patapon PSP

I’m still chipping away at Patapon, but it’s a blast and I’m about 75% through the game. I can’t seem to stress enough how this game is a bargain at $9.99. That is if you can find it at retailers now.

LittleBigPlanet - Metal Gear Solid Level Pack PS3

This is cool! The seven dollar level pack comes tons of stickers, objects, new levels designed by Kojima and a new pick-up item called the Paintinator, which is an awesome paintaball gun. The pack also comes with a soldier costume, spotlights, and health meters you can attach to your creatures. It’s a very cool package, and it allows you to create awesome stealth/action levels after you’re done playing the premade levels which are hard as nails.

Sonic Unleashed Demo PS3

I went into this with an open mind and boy did it pay off. The demo reminded me of Sonic Adventure/Sonic Wild Fire mash-up. The game looked great too, but it became choppy in far too many parts which makes Sonic Team look bad because Sonic is meant to be about speed. Despite it’s faults and a still far to similar connection with past 3D Sonic, one thing shone through and that was the fun factor. The demo was actually very fun, and I want to play it again.

Lumines Supernova PS3

We bought this game last night and had a lot of fun with it. Unlike the original XBOX 360 version, this version of Lumines is chock full of goodies, skins, songs, and customization. Q Games even gave a way a twenty skin holiday pack for free during Christmas! Very cool, and some of the levels and music implementation in this puzzler are just jaw-dropping. It’s a great deal at fifteen dollars.

God of War: Chains of Olympus Demo PSP

I may be late to the party, but after finally playing and beating the GoW PSP demo I am totally convinced that the PSP has an incredible amount of graphic power and with solid frame rate too! Ready at Dawn Studios probably know the PSP better than any other company as this is by far the best looking handheld game I’ve ever played. Of course, it’s fun and violent as well. Not that violence is a plus, I’m just saying that because it is pretty enjoyable to watch Kratos tear up.
