A Low Tolerence for Hard Games and Level Grinding

When I didn’t have a job and a life to attend to, I used to have plenty of time to devote to hard games. Now that time is pretty minimal so as a result I see myself leaning towards the more casual side of the gaming spectrum. I play difficult games with my girlfriend, but only if it’s co-op or multiplayer and sadly RPGs really aren’t co-op, so I’m stuck trying to beat them on my own.

My recent failure would have to be Dragon Quest V, and how I’ve put a lot of time in it but I’m incredibly frustrated with the fact that I have to level grind. If you never skip a random battle, you should never have to level grind, but a lot of RPGs are unbalanced like this and it’s annoying.

I’m sure RPG enthusiasts may disagree with me, but how is wasting time killing the same monsters over and over again fun? It’s not and sadly the reward for doing such tedious tasks doesn’t seem all too great in the long term.

I’m going to give it a few more tries before I shelve it, but it has definitely been frustrating.
