the gameboy micro - good game get!

the gameboy micro

Last summer, my girlfriend surprised me with one of the coolest video game-related gifts I’ve ever received. A Game Boy Micro! I had always wanted one, but like a lot of consumers, I felt the third iteration of the Game Boy Advance was steep for $99.

The high resolution screen, while tiny, is absolutely bright and awesome. The directional pad and buttons are spot on, with the exception of the awkward L and R buttons. Last fall, I played Mother 3 on it and it was absolutely superb and supposedly Itoi made Mother 3 with the Game Boy MIcro in mind. Even the battery life of the system is spot on, and It’s been officially one of my favorite portable systems since I received it.

The biggest issue with the Micro was really only the price, and it’s only ever sold 2.42 million units, which I admit, is still a lot, but when you notice that the Nintendo DS has sold over 100 million units, you can see how much it pales in comparison.

If you have some GBA games lying around and want to play them on an awesome Game Boy, you should really look into eBay and I’m pretty sure that some Wal-Marts might still have units.

Rest assured, you won’t have to spend $99 on one.
