Good Game Get! Gobber Assault

Boing Boing’s Games Inspired by Music Contest is in the voting period stage, and Bill Meltsner’s Gobber Assault is one of those games.

Inspired by Disasterpeace’s chiptune Gobber Groove, Meltsner’s game like all other entries are interpretations of video game music that weren’t initially created for video games.

The result in Meltsner’s case ingeniously happens to be an RPG themed wedding with the twisted marriage of Adam Saltsman’s Canabalt and the permanent death idealism of rogue-likes.

With your character’s movement sans attacking and jumping on auto-pilot; your responsibility lies in the shift key and space bar for slashing and leaping to best the Gobbers for EXP, auto-potions, and armor/weapon loot.

The minimalist’s score-chasing RPG with only one mantra in mind - attack, loot, level up, distribute skill points, attack, loot, level up, distribute skill points, and so on.

Gobber Assault has my vote.
