Good Tune Get!

Anamanguchi are the fore-bringers of contemporary and assessable chip-tune music. Thus far in my listening of the chip genre, the dudes of Anamanguchi have been the only ones to really thrust it as far mainstream as possible, and they’ve done a damn fine job.

Helix Nebula from their debut album, Power Supply has to be one of my favorite tracks of theirs. The magic for me begins around the one minute mark.

Good Tune Get! Stars of the Lid - Articulate Silences Pt. One

Sometimes the most minimal of music can be the very best, and Stars of the Lid are able to convey that well. Their drone ambient tunes flow and drift in out of focus and really come together to created some incredibly awesome soundscapes.

The Austin, Texas duo have been making music since the early ’90s but their latest album, And Their Refinement of the Decline which came out in ‘07 is a really incredible feat and their most ambitious to date.

The following track really shows what Stars of the Lid are all about, and hopefully it’ll make a worthy addition to your mp3 collection. If you dig this track you should seek out the rest of the album, along with their discography.

Good Tune Get! What’s Up? - Content Imagination

Robby Moncrieff plays guitar for math rock video game cover sensation, The Advantage, but lately I suppose he’s had a hankering for creating original and fucking awesome post lo-fi distortion shit that rocks and could make the scenesters bounce a little.

What’s Up is his new band, and their debut album Content Imagination is on it’s way from Obey Your Brain and will be out soon.

You can still sense those math rock/video game cover aesthetics in Robby’s new material, but What’s Up is definitely starting to carve itself as a new force in this low fidelity instrumental rock movement that’s starting to do more than just surface.
