LBP Gets H20!
While LittleBigPlanet should have had water to begin with, this update is still welcome, or well, is it an update, or a paid level pack instead?
If it is something we have to pay for, it better be cheap. Indvidual $2.99 costumes have to be helping Media Molecule pay for more than just the electric right?

comic-con LBP goodness

So Marvel and Media Molecule have teamed up and are possibly* going to be releasing these über-cute and awesome LittleBigPlanet costumes for Sackboys & girls.
The Iron Man costume looks so awesome, and I have to admit that a Tony Stark costume would be just as cool.

* Most likely. I mean, why would they deny themselves the immense amounts of money from these costumes, and why would they deny the fans the chance they deserve to emote their Hugh Jackman Sackboy.
Image Importing Is In LittleBigPlanet

The above image is from Media Molecule’s Flickr account. While Sony says that image importing won’t be coming anytime soon, it seems that Media Molecule already had the feature finished for the game.
Hopefully the release of this photo will prompt Sony to allow MM to release the patch, but we’ll see.

sony marketing makes interesting decisions
Sony PR Rep One: We should advertise LittleBigPlanet on a Nascar car.
Sony PR Rep Two: Great idea! Nascar fans will love LittleBigPlanet in between watching their favorite Nascar seasons on Blu-Ray.
Sony PR Rep One: Exactly! Call Gamestop too! I want them to do it!
Sony PR Rep Two: I already did.
the japanese have all of the fun

When the Japanese get LittleBigPlanet, they’ll have the option of buying a hella good deal. They’ll get a chance to purchase the LittleBigPlanet: Dualshock 3 pack for $79.99 and that saves them about $30 since both the controller and LBP would retail separately for $110.
Also, watermarks are annoying. Please stop using them, Play Asia.
littlebigproblems

What happens when you put too much faith and excitement into a game? You run the risk of being disappointed and while I’ve been having an absolute blast with LittleBigPlanet, some glaring issues have been warding me away from it for the time being.
1.) The strain of the servers is terrible. My girlfriend and I did not play online once yesterday.
2.) The lag in create mode because the game continually tries to connect to the internet makes the game feel like it’s still in beta and in fact the lag is almost unbearable.
3.) It would appear that currently only one player can have the Kratos/Medusa/Minotaur costumes and stickers, meaning that the second player or a guest cannot use the costumes.
I know that all of the above issues are going to be ironed out over the course of the next week or so but it’s extremely disappointing when they could’ve been ironed out before the game was released. Especially since they delayed the game a whole week!
I really don’t want to pay money to play on the Playstation Network, and Sony can’t back down from their claim but they better be spending more money and time making the free alternative better than other services.
a note on the littlebigplanet delay
As you may or may not know, LittleBigPlanet was delayed one week because a Muslim video game forum/group said that a song in LBP’s soundtrack called Tapha Niang by Toumani Diabate was terrible because it contained lyrics from the Qu’ran and according to the Muslim religion, the Qu’ran and music aren’t meant to be together.
This has caused Sony to delay the game a week so that they can patch the game and either remove or censor the song. The song is really good and it’s a bummer that it may not be featured in the game now. The worst part of this mess is how easily Sony felt they were in the wrong to upset some Muslims with some song lyrics.
Sony should not have removed the song from the game and it’s incredible how easily they were swayed into doing so. If the Muslim group didn’t want to play LittleBigPlanet because of the song then they should have just not purchased the game.
Oh well.
The New Playstation Network TOS Hates You
“You authorize and license SCEA a royalty free and perpetual right to use, distribute, copy, modify, display, and publish your User Material for any reason without any restrictions or payments to you or any third parties.”
Sony has updated their PSN terms of service obviously in anticipation of the release of Little Big Planet. While I think the above TOS quote is corporate bullshit speak, I will say this about the matter.

First, I don’t think users should make money off of Little Big Planet content. I wouldn’t enjoy paying for user generated content and that has not been my intention when planning on purchasing the game.
Secondly, Sony must never ever sell user generated content back to the community even if they compensate the creator.
Thirdly, If Sony does use your work in LBP or in other PSN stuff, you should at least have attribution rights and Sony should note that you’re the creator.
Often times I think that companies like Sony tend to forget that the internet exists, and that fans of Sony don’t want this kind of behavior from a company that has been sinister in the past and have since appeared to have cleaned up.
We’ll see what happens with LBP and I’ll give Sony the benefit of the doubt, but I hope they don’t do anything stupid.
We’ll see.
Thanks to I Have The Princess for pointing the new TOS out.
