Majin And The Forsaken Kingdom

It’s a great time of year to love video games with all the big titles and cool peripherals dropping in time for the holiday season. But too many smaller games tend to get lost in the shadow of the big boys… and Majin And The Forsaken Kingdom should not be one of them.

Launching tomorrow on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, this interesting Zelda-esque adventure is coming out of the gate with some really great review scores and even comparisons to Fumito Ueda’s Ico! Not only is the game being released early, offers gorgeous graphics and a generous 20 hours of gameplay, but it’s priced at $40!

I’ve been watching for this game ever since it started getting press earlier this year and I’m excited at the prospect this might turn out to be an unexpected, late year gem.

Update: Amazon.com is selling this for ~$23 right now (part of their holiday sales) so you might want to go and grab it before it returns to $40.

Ni No Kuni Coming to PS3

The Level 5 and Studio Ghibli collaboration is still coming out for the DS, but now that a PS3 version has been announced, I can’t help but think it’ll be naturally superior.

The game looks absolutely great, and the over world traveling clips are some of my favorite of the trailer. When Square-Enix removed over world traveling from Final Fantasy I was pretty bummed, so it’s good to see a developer understand the sense of wonder and smallness that a player can get from a huge over world.

While the game looks like a fairly traditional RPG through and through, if they can nail the gameplay solidly regardless of any originality, I’m sure the story, characters, music, and art will carry the game into that precious fun and relevant zone that so many games never reach.

Ape Escape PS3 possibly using Move

I am now officially excited for Playstation Move, and only if Sony actually releases a brand new Ape Escape that uses Playstation Move just as the original Ape Escape was one of the only PS1 games to utilize both analog sticks of the Dual Shock 1.

While I can’t imagine the possibilities of the game being more interesting than a Wii version of Ape Escape, it still is intriguing to me especially since unique controls is what gave Ape Escape that undeniable charm.

We’ll see.
